Squirrel’s Perspective on Giving Back: Carla

Once upon a time there was an old woman who lived in a forest cottage. She fed the squirrels everyday and they loved her. The squirrels reproduced and were always fat and happy because of her care. One day she fell ill and the squirrels watched in horror as the ambulance took her away. The squirrels gathered into the hollow trunk of the tree where the oldest and sagest squirrel lived, and they asked her advice. The younger squirrels were terrified that without the old woman they would all starve.

The old sage told them that she would guide them into the real understanding of prosperity and abundance. She instructed them to fill her house with plates of nuts from their stashes. When the old lady came home she was weak and infirmed. She couldn’t really fend for herself, and the nuts were an amazing blessing. She ate them, and the squirrels replenished them. This went on for a time, until the old lady could do no more and passed.

The squirrels were sad and scared again, and went to the sage for more advice. She said “look” and motioned to the sky. The old lady’s soul had turned to light, and its energy was forming a bubble of life force that was feeding the ground around the cottage. The ground became extra fertile and the plants that fed the squirrels grew extra fast.

The baby squirrels were all fed, and the whole squirrel tribe became collectively wiser.
The end.
